Canal & River Trust looking to sell BWML
You may be aware that BWML is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Canal & River Trust, the charity charged with the upkeep of 2,000 miles of canals and rivers across England & Wales.
BWML was set up by British Waterways (the forerunner to Canal & River Trust) in 2004 as an ‘arms-length’ trading subsidiary whose purpose was to earn revenues to support the efficient upkeep of its waterways.
I’m pleased to say that BWML is performing well and its prospects for growth are good. After having received a number of informal enquiries, Canal & River Trust has now decided to explore the potential sale of the business.
I wanted to make you, as a valued customer, aware that this is happening, and to assure you that this process will in no way impact on our current operation. We are confident that business will continue as usual in the event that BWML is sold to a new owner.
