Happy 2018 from all at Ripon

2017 was a good year here at Ripon with considerable efforts being put into our social facilities. This work will continue into 2018 to further enhance facilities. December saw these being used more and more frequently starting with an open jamming session on a Friday evening – something that is planned to be repeated on a regular basis, just bring any instrument you play.

Christmas Day saw numerous moorers enjoying a full sit down dinner. All cooking was done on individual boats, sharing the chores and then served in the social area. Champagne, party hats and enough sprouts to feed an army were the order of the day. Boxing day was a Bubble and Squeak lunchtime get together, again a fantastic success.

The weather on New Years Eve was very favourable so we decided to go for a cruise – 13 moorers and 6 boats set off down the Ripon canal, out onto the River Ure and then moored up at Oxclose Lock for a brunch. All boats were back in the marina by 4pm so we believe that we were the last cruisers of 2017 (or tell us differently)!

There are a number of social events already in the pipeline for 2018 and details will be communicated soon. The aim is to include as many berth holders as possible and if you have any ideas or suggestions please let Dave or Clive know.

Happy New Year and all the best for 2018.
